Description

The EMG sensor is a muscle signal sensor that measures the small electrical signals produced when a muscle contracts, a technique called electromyography (EMG). Electrodes on the skin pick up the signal, the module amplifies it, and its analog output can be read by an Arduino, ESP32 or other microcontroller. It lets you turn muscle movement into a control signal for biomedical projects, robotic hand demos and interactive games.

EMG sensor Specifications

  • Sensor type: surface EMG (electromyography) muscle signal sensor
  • Measures: electrical activity of muscles through electrodes placed on the skin
  • Output: analog signal, read with a microcontroller analog input
  • Compatible with: Arduino, ESP32 and other boards with an ADC

EMG sensor Applications

  • Controlling robotic hands, grippers and prosthetic demos with muscle movement
  • Biomedical engineering and physiology student projects
  • Exploring muscle activity during exercise in demos and research projects
  • Muscle-controlled games and human–computer interfaces
  • University labs and STEM competitions

What's in the Box

  • 1 × EMG muscle signal sensor

Tip: Clean the skin and place the measuring electrodes along the muscle; if your sensor uses a separate reference electrode, place it on a bony area away from that muscle. For safety, power the circuit from batteries or a laptop running on battery, never from a mains-powered supply while electrodes are on the body. This sensor is for learning and projects, not for medical diagnosis.
