Description
The ESP-01 Adapter 3.3V 5V board lets you use an ESP-01 or ESP-01S ESP8266 Wi-Fi module with 5 V boards such as the Arduino Uno, Nano and Mega. It has an on-board 3.3 V regulator that powers the module from 5 V, and a logic level converter on the serial lines so 5 V TX and RX signals do not damage the 3.3 V ESP8266. The module simply plugs into its 8-pin socket.
ESP-01 Adapter Specifications
- Compatible modules: ESP-01 and ESP-01S (ESP8266)
- Input voltage: 5 V
- On-board regulator: 3.3 V output for the ESP-01
- Level shifting: 3.3 V to 5 V on the serial (TX and RX) lines
- Module socket: 2 × 4 female header, 2.54 mm pitch
- Connection header: VCC, GND, TX and RX
ESP-01 Adapter Applications
- Adding Wi-Fi to an Arduino Uno, Nano or Mega with AT commands
- Powering an ESP-01 from a 5 V USB or bench supply
- IoT sensor nodes and MQTT or web-connected projects
- Classroom and prototyping setups with ESP8266 modules
What's in the Box
- 1 × ESP-01 adapter board, 3.3 V / 5 V (ESP-01 module sold separately)
Tip: Connect the adapter's TX to the Arduino's RX and its RX to the Arduino's TX, and share a common ground. This board is an adapter, not a USB programmer, so use a USB-to-serial adapter when you need to flash new firmware to the ESP-01.
