Description
The Finger Detecting Heartbeat Module is a simple optical pulse sensor for Arduino and other microcontrollers. It uses an infrared LED and a phototransistor: as your heart beats, the amount of blood in your fingertip changes, and so does the amount of infrared light that reaches the phototransistor. The module turns these small changes into an analog signal that you can read and process to detect each beat.
Finger Detecting Heartbeat Module Specifications
- Sensing method: optical, infrared LED and phototransistor
- Output: analog signal
- Pins: signal, power (+) and ground (−)
- Works with: analog inputs on Arduino and similar boards
Finger Detecting Heartbeat Module Applications
- Learning how optical pulse sensors work
- Heartbeat-triggered LED or buzzer projects
- Plotting the pulse waveform with the Arduino Serial Plotter
- Biofeedback and STEM classroom demonstrations
What's in the Box
- 1 × finger heartbeat sensor module
Tip: The signal is small and is easily affected by room light and movement, so shade the sensor, keep your finger still and filter the readings in software. This module is meant for learning and experiments, not for medical diagnosis.
