Description

The GPIO Breakout Kit (T-type, with ribbon cable) brings the Raspberry Pi's GPIO header out onto a solderless breadboard. The ribbon cable plugs into the Pi, the T-shaped board plugs into the breadboard across the centre channel, and each pin is labelled, so you can wire LEDs, buttons, sensors and modules quickly without counting header pins.

GPIO Breakout Kit Specifications

  • Type: T-type GPIO breakout (cobbler) board
  • Header: 40-pin (2 × 20), for Raspberry Pi models with the 40-pin GPIO header
  • Cable: 40-way ribbon cable with IDC connectors
  • Pitch: 2.54 mm (0.1 in), fits standard breadboards
  • Labels: pin names such as GPIO numbers, 3.3 V, 5 V, GND, I2C, SPI and UART printed on the board
  • Compatible: Raspberry Pi 5, 4, 3, 2 and Zero (with header), and other boards with the same 40-pin layout

GPIO Breakout Kit Applications

  • Prototyping Raspberry Pi circuits on a breadboard
  • Learning GPIO programming in Python
  • Connecting I2C, SPI and UART sensors and displays
  • Classroom and workshop projects

What's in the Box

  • 1 × T-type GPIO breakout board
  • 1 × ribbon cable

Tip: Line up pin 1 of the ribbon cable, usually marked by the coloured stripe, with pin 1 on the Raspberry Pi before powering up. The Pi's GPIO pins use 3.3 V logic and are not 5 V tolerant, so level-shift any 5 V signals.
