Description

The GY-ML8511 UV sensor module measures ultraviolet light with the ML8511 sensor and gives an analog voltage that rises with UV intensity. It responds to both UV-A and UV-B light, so it is a simple way to build a UV index meter, sunlight monitor or UV lamp tester with an Arduino, ESP32 or any board that has an analog input.

GY-ML8511 UV sensor module Specifications

  • Sensor: ML8511 UV sensor with built-in amplifier
  • Spectral range: 280–390 nm (UV-A and UV-B)
  • Output: analog voltage, linear with UV intensity (mW/cm²)
  • Sensor supply: 2.7–3.6 V
  • Supply current: about 300 µA
  • Enable pin: EN, low-power standby when pulled low

GY-ML8511 UV sensor module Applications

  • UV index meters and weather stations
  • Sun exposure monitors and wearable UV alerts
  • Checking UV lamps used for curing resin
  • Science and STEM experiments with sunlight

What's in the Box

  • 1 × GY-ML8511 UV sensor module

Tip: Tie EN to 3.3 V to keep the sensor on. For steadier readings, also read your board's 3.3 V supply on a second analog pin and use it as a reference: the sensor output is about 1 V in darkness and rises to about 2.8 V at 15 mW/cm².
