IC LD33CV

The IC LD33CV is a fixed 3.3 V low-dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulator from the LD1117 family in a TO-220 package. It supplies up to 800 mA and keeps regulating with only about 1 V between input and output, so it can make a clean 3.3 V rail from a 5 V USB or adapter supply for ESP32, ESP8266 and other 3.3 V devices.

Tip: Fit a 10 µF capacitor on the output, which this regulator family needs for stability, and a 100 nF capacitor on the input. The extra voltage is turned into heat (P = (Vin − 3.3 V) × I), so add a heatsink when feeding it from 9–12 V at high current, and check the pinout in the datasheet before wiring.
