Description

The Infrared Transmit Sensor Module is a small board with an infrared LED and header pins that lets an Arduino or ESP32 send infrared signals. With an IR library you can copy the codes of a TV, air-conditioner or fan remote and send them from your own project, or build a simple IR link to a board with an IR receiver.

Infrared Transmit Sensor Module Specifications

  • Function: infrared transmitter (emitter), not a receiver
  • Emitter: infrared LED, invisible to the eye
  • Signal: modulated IR, usually 38 kHz to match common IR receivers
  • Control: digital or PWM output pin
  • Connections: header pins for signal, power and ground (check the labels on the board)

Infrared Transmit Sensor Module Applications

  • Universal remotes and smart-home IR blasters
  • Controlling TVs, air-conditioners and fans from Arduino or ESP32
  • IR communication between two boards
  • Beam-break detection together with an IR receiver
  • STEM lessons on infrared light

What's in the Box

  • 1 × infrared transmit module

Tip: Use the IRremote library to send NEC, Sony or other remote codes, and record the codes first with an IR receiver module. Point the LED straight at the device, as range drops quickly at an angle; most phone cameras show the LED flashing when it transmits.
