Description
The IR Infrared Flame Detection Sensor module detects the infrared light given off by a flame. An infrared receiver at the front picks up light in the 760–1100 nm range, and an LM393 comparator turns it into a digital on/off signal, while a second pin gives the analog level. With 4 pins it connects directly to Arduino, ESP32 and other microcontrollers for flame detection and robotics projects.
IR Infrared Flame Detection Sensor Specifications
- Detection wavelength: about 760–1100 nm (infrared)
- Detection angle: about 60°
- Supply voltage: 3.3–5 V
- Comparator: LM393
- Outputs: AO (analog level) and DO (digital, threshold set with the on-board potentiometer)
- Pins: 4, VCC, GND, DO and AO (check the labels on the board)
IR Infrared Flame Detection Sensor Applications
- Flame detection alarms in Arduino and ESP32 projects
- Fire-fighting robots that search for a candle flame
- Switching a buzzer, LED or relay when a flame appears
- Infrared light source detection experiments
- STEM, robotics and school science classes
What's in the Box
- 1 × IR flame detection sensor module, 4-pin
Tip: Turn the potentiometer to set when DO switches, and read AO with analogRead() if you want a level instead of on/off. Sunlight and incandescent lamps also contain infrared and can trigger the sensor, and it is not a certified fire alarm; keep it at a safe distance from the flame.
