IR Temp Sensor MLX90614

The IR Temp Sensor MLX90614 measures temperature without touching the object, by reading the infrared energy it gives off. The Melexis MLX90614 is factory calibrated and reports both the object temperature and its own ambient temperature over a digital I2C (SMBus) interface, so it connects easily to Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi. It is used in contactless thermometers, motor and heater monitoring and many school projects.

Tip: The sensor reads the average temperature of everything in its field of view, so move closer to small objects. Shiny metal surfaces reflect infrared and read low; cover them with matte tape or paint for accurate readings, and check whether your board needs 3.3 V or 5 V before powering it.
