Mosfet Transistor IRF540

The Mosfet Transistor IRF540 is an N-channel power MOSFET in a TO-220 package, rated for 100 V and around 30 A. It switches DC loads such as motors, solenoids, lamps and LED strips with low losses, and it is widely used in power supplies, inverters, motor controllers and PWM circuits running from 12 V, 24 V or 48 V.

Tip: The IRF540 is not a logic-level MOSFET: a 5 V Arduino pin only partly turns it on. Drive the gate with about 10 V through a driver or transistor stage, add a 10 kΩ pull-down from gate to source, and fit a flyback diode across inductive loads such as motors and relays.
