Mosfet Transistor IRF740

The Mosfet Transistor IRF740 is a high-voltage N-channel power MOSFET in a TO-220 package, rated for 400 V and 10 A. Its high voltage rating makes it a good fit for circuits that run from rectified mains or other high DC voltages, such as switch-mode power supplies, inverters, electronic ballasts and high-voltage motor controllers. It is also a common replacement part in power electronics repair.

Tip: Drive the gate with about 10 V for full turn-on; a 5 V microcontroller pin is not enough on its own. Circuits at mains or other high voltages are dangerous, so work on them only when they are disconnected and the capacitors have been discharged.
