Description

The KY-039 Finger Detecting Heartbeat module is a simple pulse sensor that shines infrared light through your fingertip and picks up the tiny changes caused by blood flow with every heartbeat. Its analog output can be read by an Arduino or ESP32 analog pin to show your pulse on the Serial Plotter or estimate heart rate in beats per minute. It is a popular part of sensor kits and biology or STEM lessons.

KY-039 Finger Detecting Heartbeat Specifications

  • Model: KY-039
  • Sensor: infrared LED and phototransistor
  • Output: analog signal
  • Operating voltage: 5 V
  • Pins: 3 (signal, VCC and GND)
  • Measures: pulse, from changes in light passing through the finger

KY-039 Finger Detecting Heartbeat Applications

  • Heart-rate demonstrations with Arduino
  • Pulse visualisation on the Serial Plotter or an OLED display
  • Biology and STEM classroom experiments
  • Biofeedback and interactive art projects

What's in the Box

  • 1 × KY-039 heartbeat sensor module

Tip: Rest your fingertip gently between the LED and the sensor, keep it still and shield it from room light; the signal is small, so smoothing it in software helps. This module is for learning and experiments, not for medical use.
