LCD1604

The LCD1604 is a 16 × 4 character LCD display that shows four lines of 16 characters each. It uses the standard HD44780-compatible controller, so it works with the Arduino LiquidCrystal library and most microcontrollers, and its LED backlight keeps the text readable inside dark enclosures. It is a good step up from the 16 × 2 LCD1602 when you need more information on screen.

Tip: Connect a 10 kΩ potentiometer to the V0 (contrast) pin; if you see only blocks or a blank screen, adjust the contrast first. In 4-bit mode the display needs only 6 Arduino pins, or add an I2C adapter board to drive it with just 2.
