Description
The MG811 Air Carbon Dioxide Sensor is a solid electrolyte CO2 sensor that produces a small voltage (EMF) depending on the carbon dioxide level in the air. It covers 350 to 10,000 ppm, has low dependence on humidity, and is used for indoor air quality monitoring, greenhouse CO2 control and ventilation projects.
MG811 Air Carbon Dioxide Sensor Specifications
- Sensing principle: solid electrolyte cell (EMF output)
- Target gas: carbon dioxide (CO2)
- Measuring range: 350–10,000 ppm
- Heater voltage: 6.0 V ±0.1 V, AC or DC
- Heater current: about 200 mA (about 1.2 W)
- Output signal: EMF changes by about 30–50 mV between 350 and 10,000 ppm
- Operating temperature: −20 to 50 °C
MG811 Air Carbon Dioxide Sensor Applications
- Indoor CO2 and air quality monitors for classrooms and offices
- Demand-controlled ventilation
- Greenhouse and mushroom-growing CO2 monitoring
- Fermentation and incubator monitoring
- University and lab experiments
What's in the Box
- 1 × MG811 CO2 sensor
Tip: The sensor output has a very high impedance, so it must go through an op-amp buffer with very high input impedance (the datasheet asks for 100–1000 GΩ) before an ADC can read it. Run the 6 V heater from a separate supply able to give about 200 mA, and let the sensor warm up before calibrating.
