Description

The SR602 small Human Infrared Sensor module is a miniature pyroelectric (PIR) motion detector that senses the infrared heat given off by a moving person. When it detects motion, its output pin switches HIGH, which a microcontroller, a transistor or a relay module can use to turn on a light, sound an alarm or wake up a device. Its very small size and low standby current make it a good fit for battery-powered projects.

SR602 small Human Infrared Sensor Specifications

  • Sensor type: pyroelectric infrared (PIR) with a Fresnel lens
  • Detects: movement of people and other warm bodies
  • Output: digital, HIGH when motion is detected, LOW when idle
  • Supply voltage: low-voltage DC, typically 3.3–15 V for SR602 modules
  • Standby current: very low (microamp range)
  • Pins: 3 (VCC, OUT, GND)
  • Size: miniature, much smaller than the common HC-SR501

SR602 small Human Infrared Sensor Applications

  • Automatic lights for stairs, wardrobes and corridors
  • Intruder alarms and door chimes
  • Arduino, ESP32 and ESP8266 motion projects
  • Battery-powered presence detectors and smart home sensors

What's in the Box

  • 1 × SR602 mini PIR sensor module

Tip: Give the sensor up to a minute after power-up to settle before testing, as PIR sensors can trigger falsely at first. Keep it away from heaters, air-conditioning vents and direct sunlight, which can also cause false triggers.
