Description
The MQ-8 Hydrogen Gas Sensor Module combines the MQ-8 hydrogen sensor with a ready-made board, so you can detect hydrogen (H2) leaks with an Arduino, ESP32 or as a simple stand-alone alarm. It provides an analog output that follows the gas concentration and a digital alarm output whose trigger level you set with the on-board potentiometer.
MQ-8 Hydrogen Gas Sensor Module Specifications
- Sensor: MQ-8, tin dioxide (SnO2) semiconductor
- Target gas: hydrogen (H2), with low sensitivity to alcohol and LPG
- Detection range: 100–10,000 ppm H2
- Supply voltage: 5 V
- Outputs: AO (analog) and DO (digital alarm)
- Threshold: adjustable with the on-board potentiometer
- Preheat: over 24 hours before first accurate use
MQ-8 Hydrogen Gas Sensor Module Applications
- Hydrogen leak alarms in labs and workshops
- Battery charging rooms and UPS cabinets
- Fuel cell and electrolysis experiments
- School chemistry and STEM projects
What's in the Box
- 1 × MQ-8 hydrogen gas sensor module
Tip: Power the module from a 5 V supply that can handle the heater current; the sensor getting warm is normal. Read AO with an analog pin for gas levels or use DO as an on/off alarm, set the threshold after warm-up in clean air, and on 3.3 V boards keep AO within 3.3 V with a voltage divider.
