Description

The Passive Buzzer Module is a small sound board with a passive buzzer that plays a tone when you drive it with a changing signal. Unlike an active buzzer, it has no built-in oscillator, so you choose the pitch yourself. That makes it ideal for melodies, alarm sounds and button beeps from an Arduino, ESP32 or other microcontroller.

Passive Buzzer Module Specifications

  • Buzzer type: passive, needs an external square wave or PWM signal
  • Tone: set by the drive frequency, so different notes are possible
  • Logic level: works with 3.3 V and 5 V microcontrollers
  • Pins: signal (I/O), VCC and GND; check the labels on your board
  • Connection: header pins for jumper wires and breadboards

Passive Buzzer Module Applications

  • Playing melodies and notification tones
  • Alarm, timer and countdown sounds
  • Key-press and menu feedback
  • Doorbells, games and toys
  • Learning about frequency and sound in STEM classes

What's in the Box

  • 1 × passive buzzer module

Tip: On Arduino, use tone(pin, frequency) to play a note and noTone(pin) to stop it. A steady DC voltage only makes a click, not a tone. Most passive buzzers sound loudest at a few kHz, so try frequencies around 2000 Hz first.
