Piezo Element - D:20mm

The Piezo Element - D:20mm is a bare piezoelectric disc with a diameter of 20 mm. It works both ways: drive it with an alternating or square-wave signal and it produces sound, or tap and flex it and it produces a small voltage you can measure. That makes it a low-cost part for beeps and simple melodies as well as knock, tap and vibration sensing in Arduino projects.

What's in the Box

Tip: As a sensor, connect the piezo between an analog input and GND with a 1 MΩ resistor in parallel to bleed off the charge; a hard knock can produce voltage spikes, so keep taps gentle or add a protection diode. As a sounder, fixing the disc to a panel or over a small cavity makes it much louder.
