Proximity Sensor AP3216

The Proximity Sensor AP3216 module combines an ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor and an infrared LED in one small package, all read over the I2C bus. It can measure how bright the surroundings are and detect when an object, such as a hand or face, comes close to the sensor. This makes it popular for automatic screen dimming, touchless switches and smart lighting with Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi.

Tip: Power the sensor from 3.3 V unless the board has its own regulator, and use a logic level converter on SDA and SCL with a 5 V Arduino. Keep the sensor window clean and unobstructed, as glass or dark covers change the readings.
