Description
The PS2 Game JoyStick Module is a dual-axis thumb joystick, similar to the sticks on a PlayStation 2 controller, mounted on a small breakout board. It contains two potentiometers that give analog X and Y positions and a push button that closes when you press the stick down, so it is an easy way to add game-style control to Arduino, ESP32 and robotics projects.
PS2 Game JoyStick Module Specifications
- Axes: 2 (X and Y), each read through a 10 kΩ potentiometer
- Outputs: VRx and VRy analog voltages, SW digital push button
- Pins: 5 (GND, +5V, VRx, VRy, SW)
- Supply voltage: 3.3 V to 5 V
- Centre position: about half the supply voltage on each axis
PS2 Game JoyStick Module Applications
- Controlling robot cars and pan-tilt servo brackets
- Game controllers and menu navigation on LCD and OLED screens
- Remote controls with Bluetooth or nRF24L01 radio modules
- Moving cameras, cursors and CNC jog controls
- Arduino lessons on analog inputs
What's in the Box
- 1 × PS2-style dual-axis joystick module
Tip: Connect VRx and VRy to two analog pins (an Arduino Uno reads about 512 at rest and 0 to 1023 at the ends) and SW to a digital pin set as INPUT_PULLUP; the button pulls the pin LOW when pressed. On a 3.3 V board such as the ESP32, power the module from 3.3 V so the outputs stay within the ADC range.
