Quad Bilateral Switch CD4066

The Quad Bilateral Switch CD4066 is a CMOS 4000-series IC with four independent analog switches in one 14-pin package. Each switch passes signals in both directions and is turned on or off by its own control pin, so a logic signal from an Arduino or a logic gate can connect or disconnect audio, analog or digital lines. It works from a wide 3 V to 18 V supply.

Tip: Keep every signal between VSS and VDD; for audio, bias the signal to mid-supply or use a split supply. Tie unused control pins to VSS and place a 100 nF capacitor between pins 14 and 7, close to the IC.
