Quad XOR (2 input) 7486

The Quad XOR (2 input) 7486 is a 74-series logic IC that contains four independent 2-input exclusive-OR (XOR) gates in one 14-pin package. Each gate gives a HIGH output only when its two inputs are different. It is a key chip for building binary adders, parity checkers and comparators in digital electronics courses and projects.

Tip: Connect pin 14 to +5 V and pin 7 to GND, and place a 100 nF capacitor between them close to the chip. Do not leave unused inputs floating: tie them to GND or VCC.
