Rain Water Level Detection Sensor Module

The Rain Water Level Detection Sensor module detects water using a row of exposed parallel copper traces. When rain drops or a liquid bridge the traces, the resistance between them falls and the module's output voltage changes with the amount of the sensing area that is wet or under water. It connects to an analog input of an Arduino or ESP32 and is a simple way to sense rain, leaks or a rising water level.

Tip: The exposed traces corrode quickly when they are powered all the time. Power the sensor from a digital pin only while you take a reading, and keep the electronics end of the board dry: only the trace area should touch water.
