Description

The Resistive Temp Sensor PT100 is a platinum resistance temperature detector (RTD) whose resistance rises steadily with temperature, starting from 100 Ω at 0 °C. Platinum RTDs are known for their accuracy, long-term stability and nearly linear response, which is why the PT100 is a standard sensor in industrial process control, HVAC systems, ovens and laboratory equipment.

Resistive Temp Sensor PT100 Specifications

  • Sensor type: PT100 platinum RTD
  • Nominal resistance: 100 Ω at 0 °C
  • Temperature coefficient: about 0.385 Ω per °C on the standard IEC 60751 curve (alpha 0.00385)
  • Resistance at 100 °C: about 138.5 Ω
  • Output: resistance, read through an RTD converter, transmitter or temperature controller

Resistive Temp Sensor PT100 Applications

  • Temperature inputs for industrial controllers and PLCs
  • Ovens, heaters, boilers and hot water systems
  • HVAC and refrigeration monitoring
  • Laboratory and test equipment
  • Arduino and ESP32 projects with a MAX31865 RTD module

What's in the Box

  • 1 × PT100 resistive temperature sensor

Tip: A PT100 cannot be connected straight to an Arduino analog pin, because its resistance changes by less than half an ohm per degree. Use an RTD converter such as the MAX31865, or the PT100 input of a temperature controller, and keep the sensing current low (around 1 mA) to avoid self-heating errors.
