SCT-013-030 Non-Invasive AC Current Clamp Sensor 30A

The SCT-013-030 Non-Invasive AC Current Clamp Sensor measures alternating current up to 30 A without cutting or stripping any wire. It is a split-core current transformer: open the clamp, close it around one conductor, and it produces an AC voltage proportional to the current flowing through it. This version has a built-in burden resistor, so it gives a 0–1 V output that is easy to read with an Arduino or ESP32 for home energy monitoring.

Tip: Clamp around only the live or only the neutral wire, never the whole cable, or the two currents cancel and the reading is zero. The output swings above and below 0 V, so bias it to half the supply with two equal resistors and a capacitor before the analog pin, and use a library such as EmonLib to calculate the RMS current.
