Soil Moisture Detection ( Digital )

The Soil Moisture Detection module (digital) tells you when soil is too dry, using a fork-shaped probe pushed into the soil and a small comparator board. Its digital output switches when the moisture passes a threshold you set with the onboard potentiometer, so an Arduino, ESP32 or ESP8266 can turn on a pump or send an alert when plants need water.

Tip: The probe electrodes corrode faster when they are powered all the time, so power the sensor from a digital pin and switch it on only when you take a reading. To set the threshold, place the probe in soil at the moisture level where watering should start and turn the potentiometer until the digital output just changes state.
