Description
The Strain Gauge BF350 is a resistive foil strain gauge with a nominal resistance of 350 Ω. When it is glued to a metal part and that part bends, stretches or compresses, the gauge's resistance changes by a very small amount. Wired in a Wheatstone bridge and read with an amplifier such as the HX711, it lets you measure force, weight and strain with an Arduino or ESP32.
Strain Gauge BF350 Specifications
- Type: resistive foil strain gauge
- Nominal resistance: 350 Ω
- Connection: 2 leads, used in a quarter, half or full Wheatstone bridge
- Mounting: bonded to the surface of the part being measured
- Typical amplifier: HX711 24-bit load cell amplifier or an instrumentation amplifier
Strain Gauge BF350 Applications
- Building custom load cells and weighing scales
- Measuring bending and stress in beams, brackets and frames
- Force sensing in test rigs and student experiments
- University labs on mechanics of materials and measurement
What's in the Box
- 1 × BF350 strain gauge
Tip: Clean and lightly sand the surface, glue the gauge with a thin layer of cyanoacrylate along the direction of strain and let it cure fully. Using two or four gauges in a bridge gives a stronger signal and better temperature compensation.
