Description
The Temperature Sensor TMP36 is a low-voltage analog temperature sensor in a 3-pin TO-92 package. Its output voltage rises linearly by 10 mV for every degree Celsius, with a 500 mV offset so it can measure below 0 °C without a negative supply. It runs from 2.7 V to 5.5 V, so it works directly with 3.3 V boards such as the ESP32 and 5 V boards such as the Arduino Uno.
Temperature Sensor TMP36 Specifications
- Output: analog voltage, 10 mV/°C
- Offset: 500 mV at 0 °C (750 mV at 25 °C)
- Range: −40 °C to +125 °C
- Accuracy: about ±2 °C over the full range (typical)
- Supply voltage: 2.7 V to 5.5 V
- Supply current: less than 50 µA
- Package: TO-92, 3 pins (+Vs, Vout, GND)
Temperature Sensor TMP36 Applications
- Room, greenhouse and weather station temperature logging
- Fan and heater control with Arduino or ESP32
- Battery and enclosure temperature monitoring
- Physics and STEM classroom experiments
What's in the Box
- 1 × TMP36 temperature sensor
Tip: With the flat face towards you and the legs down, the pins are +Vs, Vout and GND from left to right. Convert the reading with Temperature (°C) = (Vout in mV − 500) / 10. Reversing the supply pins makes the sensor hot very quickly, so double-check the wiring before powering up.
