Transformer 12-0-12V 2VA

The Transformer 12-0-12V 2VA is a small centre-tapped step-down transformer with a 12-0-12 V secondary and a 2 VA power rating. It gives 12 V AC on each half of the secondary, or 24 V AC across the full winding, at low current, which suits small dual-rail supplies for op-amps, control boards, timers and other low-power electronics.

Tip: A 2 VA transformer only delivers a few tens of milliamps, so check your circuit's total current before choosing it. After rectification and a filter capacitor, each 12 V half gives about 16 V DC at light load (12 V × 1.41 minus the diode drop), so use capacitors rated at least 25 V. The primary connects to mains voltage: insulate it, add a fuse and never work on it while it is plugged in.
