Transformer 9-0-9V 60VA

The Transformer 9-0-9V 60VA is a centre-tapped step-down transformer with a 9-0-9 V AC secondary and a 60 VA power rating. It gives 9 V AC on each half and 18 V AC across the full winding, at up to about 3.3 A, so it can feed higher-current low-voltage supplies for amplifiers, LED lighting, motor drivers and workshop projects.

Tip: Each 9 V half gives about 12 V DC after rectification and filtering at light load (9 V × 1.41 minus the diode drop); use filter capacitors rated 25 V, or 35 V if you rectify the full 18 V winding. At currents of several amps the diodes and regulator get hot, so mount them on a heatsink. Insulate the mains primary and fit a fuse.
