Description

The Ublox NEO-6M GPS Module (GY-NEO6MV2) is a complete GPS receiver board built around the u-blox NEO-6M chip, with an EEPROM that saves its settings and an external ceramic patch antenna. It sends position, speed and time as standard NMEA sentences over a serial port, so it connects easily to Arduino, ESP32 and flight controllers such as MultiWii (MWC) and AeroQuad.

Ublox NEO-6M GPS Module Specifications

  • Receiver: u-blox NEO-6M, 50 channels, GPS L1
  • Interface: UART (TX, RX), 9600 baud by default
  • Output: NMEA sentences with position, altitude, speed and time
  • Update rate: 1 Hz by default, up to 5 Hz
  • Position accuracy: about 2.5 m in open sky
  • Cold start: about 27 s
  • Memory: on-board EEPROM keeps the configuration
  • Antenna: ceramic patch antenna, included
  • Supply voltage: 3–5 V
  • Pins: VCC, RX, TX, GND

Ublox NEO-6M GPS Module Applications

  • GPS for quadcopters and flight controllers (MWC, AeroQuad)
  • Vehicle, bike and asset trackers with Arduino or ESP32
  • Accurate time source for clocks and data loggers
  • Navigation for outdoor robots and rovers
  • Adding location to sensor readings in IoT projects

What's in the Box

  • 1 × GY-NEO6MV2 NEO-6M GPS module with EEPROM
  • 1 × ceramic patch antenna

Tip: Connect the module's TX to your board's RX and RX to TX, and read the data with the TinyGPS++ library. The first fix needs a clear view of the sky and can take a minute or more, so test it outdoors or next to a window.
