Ultrasonic Receiver UST-40R

The Ultrasonic Receiver UST-40R is a 40 kHz ultrasonic transducer that turns sound waves above the range of human hearing back into a small electrical signal. The "R" marks it as the receiver; it works together with a matching transmitter such as the UST-40T to build distance sensors, object detectors and remote triggers, using the same principle as the popular HC-SR04 sensor module.

What's in the Box

Tip: The receiver output is only a few millivolts, so feed it into an op-amp amplifier tuned around 40 kHz, then into a comparator or microcontroller input. Mount it facing the same way as the transmitter but a few centimetres apart, and add a little foam between them to reduce direct crosstalk.
