Description

The Grove Thumb Joystick is a 2-axis analog joystick module, similar to the thumb sticks on a game controller, made for Seeed Studio's Grove system. Moving the stick changes two analog voltages, one for the X axis and one for the Y axis, and pressing the stick down works as a button. It plugs into an analog Grove port with a single cable, so no soldering or breadboard is needed.

Grove Thumb Joystick Specifications

  • Type: 2-axis analog thumb joystick with press function
  • Outputs: two analog signals (X and Y)
  • Connector: 4-pin Grove, analog port
  • Press detection: pressing the stick drives the X reading to its maximum value

Grove Thumb Joystick Applications

  • Controlling robots, pan-tilt servos and robotic arms
  • Game controllers for Arduino and LCD games

What's in the Box

Tip: Read the stick with analogRead() on the two analog pins of the Grove port (for example A0 and A1), and record the centre values first, because they vary slightly from one joystick to another.
